Another update on the American Jobs Act. Thursday September 22nd, there will be a conference call for AAPI leaders with Chris Lu of the Obama administration and Congressman Mike Honda on the impact of the proposed American Jobs Act for AAPI communities. See press release below:
Friend --
President Obama recently laid out the American Jobs Act -- his plan to create jobs and help provide economic security to the middle class. Now, we'd like to continue the conversation with you about how it will affect Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders.
I'd like to invite you to a call with other AAPI leaders this Thursday to discuss how the plan will affect the community. We'll discuss the key elements of the plan: how it will extend and expand the payroll tax cut, offer incentives to businesses that hire folks who have been out of work more than six months, and support job creation to help young Americans.
After you RSVP, we'll send a number and passcode for the call.
The American Jobs Act will particularly help AAPI communities -- as many as 7.6 million AAPIs would benefit from the proposed payroll tax cut alone.
It's up to us to stand with the President to put pressure on Congress to pass this plan. The more support we have in our communities, the better we’ll be able to do that -- and the faster we can get all Americans, including the AAPI community, back to work.
Please RSVP and join us on Thursday. I hope you can make it:
Until then,
