Now that former Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle has withdrawn his nomination for Secretary of Health and Human Services, it's time to look for a replacement. And since Obama has selected Republican Senator Judd Gregg for Commerce, let's hope he's done appealing to conservatives and finally throws another bone to us progressives. Please let it be our guy, Governor Howard Dean.

Now, why should Dean get the final slot in Obama's cabinet? Is it just a reward for helping to lay the groundwork for Obama's presidency, not just his 50-state strategy, but also his grassroots/populist message? No. Is it because he's actually a medical doctor who could provide insight into the health care? No. Is it because he helped improve coverage for children in his homestate of Vermont? No. It's because of all of this, AND the fact that he cares about what average Americans have to say. And he will take that real-life experience into account as the Secretary of HHS.
I know our group has grown beyond our origins as Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders for Dean, but the Good Doctor really deserves a lot of credit for getting, not just us, but thousands of others, inspired and motivated to be involved in the political process. I am sure he will continue this spirit as the Cabinet Secretary.
A facebook group has been set up to support his nomination. There are some numbers there which you can call to support Dean.
