Calling all interns, young professionals and anyone else interested in making Asian Pacific American (APA) voices heard in this historic election year! Join us for a special day on August 2nd as APAs prepare to flex their electoral muscles for 2008 and show we're a decisive force for Democratic change! APA Democratic groups both nationally and in the Chesapeake region are sponsoring a groundbreaking event on August 2! §  CELEBRATING THE INAUGURAL ASIAN AMERICAN CIVIC PROJECT! For the first time ever, 5 APA Campaign fellows will have a chance to work on campaigns supporting a progressive Asian Pacific American (APA) candidate or candidate representing a sizable APA community. The placements this year will be in Illinois, Minnesota, Nevada, Texas, and Washington State.  LUNCH INCLUDED. Top APA political professionals will share their stories and advice. §  CANVASSING and REGISTERING VOTERS IN THE BATTLEGROUND STATE OF VIRGINIA! APAs helped Democrats take over the U.S. Senate with their critical votes for Virginia Senator Jim Webb! Now we're ready to turn Virginia blue for Barack Obama and Mark Warner for Senate. We'll be organizing a canvass and registering voters in Northern Virginia in the afternoon. DATE/TIME:  Saturday, August 2, 2008 11 a.m - 1:30 p.m.  Political Panel, followed by Reception and Lunch 3 p.m. - 6 p.m.  Canvassing and Registering Voters in Northern Virginia LOCATION:  Panel and Reception: Democratic National Committee, Training Room, 1st Floor, 430 S.
