Asian American small business owner PAC trumpets victories

I actually have never heard of the Asian American Small Business PAC before, but it would stand to reason this constituency group would try to promote their business interests. And at $100,000, it would definitely make them one of the larger PAC's geared towards the AAPI community. The PAC is based in California and it's an impressive pipeline of elected officials, mostly Democrats. (I think Michelle Park Steel is the lone Republican.) Hopefully they can make a difference in Sacramento.

Asian American Small Business PAC Contributes To Groundbreaking Asian
Pacific American Election Victories In California

Sacramento, CA – The Asian American Small Business Political Action
Committee (AASB PAC) aggressively contributed to victories for Asian
Pacific American candidates in California in 2010.

The AASB PAC spent over $100,000 this cycle to support the re-election
of APA state and local elected officials that included State
Controller John Chiang, State Board of Equalization Members Michelle
Park Steel and Betty Yee, Assembly Members Mike Eng, Paul Fong, Warren
Furutani, Mary Hayashi, Fiona Ma, Mariko Yamada, San Francisco
Assessor Phil Ting, and Los Angeles Water Replenishment District Board
Member Lillian Kawasaki.

In addition, AASB PAC successfully supported the groundbreaking
elections of Dr. Richard Pan  (Assembly District 5) and Das Williams
(Assembly District 35).

AASB PAC contributed directly to and funded an independent expenditure
campaign in support of Dr. Pan.  Dr. Pan is a prominent Chinese
American pediatrician and businessperson in Sacramento.  However, Dr.
Pan had never run for office before and the district's voter
registration favored his well-funded opponent.  Nevertheless, Dr. Pan
scored a stunning upset win with the help of AASB PAC.

AASB PAC is also proud to have supported Das Williams, who will be the
first person of Dutch Indonesian descent elected to the California
State Assembly.

AASB PAC was founded in 2005 and has spent over half a million dollars
to successfully support the election of numerous APA candidates for
California state and local offices.  For more information or to

California’s nearly 1.3 million APA voters are the second largest
ethnic voting bloc in the state.  405,705 APAs are registered as
Democrats, 329,057 are registered as Republicans, 452,649 are
registered as Decline To State, and the remaining are registered to
other third party organizations.
