Matthew Tharakan and I spent this past weekend spreading the word in the South Asian community about City Councilmember Sam Yoon’s mission to restore transparency and accountability to Boston City Hall. We visited local South Asian businesses, morning Eid prayer at the Islamic Society of Boston Cultural Center, and the Hare Krishna Rath Yathra festival on the Boston Common.
We sparked up some spirited conversation with residents about their concerns and how Sam plans on addressing them. From changes to the way the Inspectional Services Department does business, to improving safety on our streets, Sam is paying attention to the needs of our community and will continue to do so as Mayor.
We even signed up some new volunteers! Can’t wait to see them down at the office!
Getting out into the community making sure everyone’s voice is heard has brought us a real sense of solidarity and unity, that together we can accomplish great things, if we all keep active and let the world know we care about what’s affecting our lives. This election is for our future! From our visits to local businesses and the friendly faces we met at the ISBCC and the Rath Yathra festival, we have seen that South Asians have bright hopes for this city, and know that Sam is the right choice to help us get there.
To all our Boston area readers, come out and volunteer with the campaign! The election is TOMORROW, September 22nd, and Sam needs YOUR help! Come to Sam’s office at 1411 Dorcester Ave to join the effort. And don’t forget to VOTE and bring all your friends and family with you!
For more information, visit SamYoon.com, call the campaign office at 617-825-0309 (mention my name for Asian community outreach), or email me, Sai Joseph, at saidemocrat@gmail.com. Even after tomorrow’s primary election, feel free to contact me to get involved to bring Sam Yoon’s message to the Asian and South Asian community for the general election in November.
Matthew came all the way up from Philadelphia to help out, so if you're outside the immediate MA area, don't let that stop you from getting involved! We'll find you housing with local supporters and hook you up with all our local Asian American outreach efforts.
Looking forward to hearing from you! See you at the polls! :)
