May 19 is National Asian & Pacific Islander HIV/AIDS Awareness Day and World Hepatitis Day. This blog post is one of a series on the impact of HIV and Hepatitis B in Asian & Pacific Islander communities. As A&PIs, you may not believe that you are at risk for these diseases, but you are. On May 19, Asian & Pacific Islander Wellness Center's Banyan Tree Project held a press conference on the state of the HIV and Hepatitis B epidemics in our community. Ryan Ong Palao, known the world over as Ongina, sat down with us to film a special message about HIV in our community. We hope you take a few moments to watch his special message commemorating May 19.
