President Obama Nominates Goodwin Liu for 9th Circuit Court of Appeals

President Obama today nominated Goodwin Liu for the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit and Judge Robert N. Chatigny for the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. Mr. Liu currently serves as an Associate Dean and Professor of Law at the University of California, Berkeley School of Law. Judge Chatigny currently serves as a U.S. District Judge for the District of Connecticut.

LGBTs participate in Lunar New Year parades

It was terrific to see the LGBT communities participating for the first time in the recent NYC Chinatown Lunar New Year parade.

Sen. Inouye seeking a ninth term

Senator Daniel Inouye (D-Hawaii) recently announced his intentions to seek a historic NINTH term in the U.S. Senate.

Inouye, who last announced for re-election in 2004 during a routine speech at the state Democratic Convention, did it this time before 2,000 supporters, friends and political dignitaries at a $200-a-plate dinner last week at the Hilton Hawaiian Village.


Lunar New Year for All

February 21 will see the the first ever LGBT contingent in the Lunar New Year parade in New York’s Chinatown.  

The New York Association for Gender Rights Advocacy (NYAGRA), Q-Wave, the Gay Asian & Pacific Islander Men of New York (GAPIMNY), Barangay,and other organizations will co-sponsor the LGBT contingent in the parade in order to challenge homophobia and honor the diversity of all families within the community.

Over the last six months, I have been approached by friends to either create a blog or to write as a guest contributor to their blogs. However, I resisted because I was always preoccupied with writing preliminary exams, preparing lecture notes, or any other banal task common to a graduate student.  And to be frank, I wasn’t quite sure anyone was really interested in what I had to say outside of the classroom.
