Bobby Jindal, Welfare Queen, Wants Stimulus Funds

bobby_jindal As one of the leading voices in the Republican party these days, Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal found himself in a difficult spot. The Republican members of Congress were leaning hard on all their members to bring down the whole economic stimulus package. (Of course they were just taking their marching orders from their actual leader, Rush Limbaugh.) Joining his Republican brethrens in Congress, the Governor had no problem talking smack about the stimulus package:
I do worry about the debt being created. I worry about the fact that our children and our grandchildren will have to pay back this debt. And I worry that many of the programs that are being called temporary aren't really temporary at all," he said.
The problem is his state, you know, the one hit by Hurricane Katrina, sorely needs the infrastructure support. (Got levees, anyone?) Anyway, what's a poor old Republican Governor to do? Well, it seems like some Republicans are now making noise about reaching out their hands for help, including Jindal:
However, the governor said today that he will carefully consider the final version of the bill to see which Louisiana projects might be funded with federal money laid out in the legislation.
In fact, don't be surprised to see these Republicans running around their districts, taking credit for the stimulus money and showing up for all the photos ops in front of their voters. We shouldn't let these hypocritical politicians get away with this (and this includes the conservative Blue Dog Democrats). We have to remind the American public who supported the stimulus package and who didn't. Accountability is important and we can't allow the Republicans to have their cake and eat it, too.

Ok, so you are sitting behind a laptop, probably drinking a mocha from Starbucks around the corner in the sinless metropolis of Los Angeles. Let's face some facts - You do not live in Louisiana. I do. Jindal's decisions do not have any affect on you. I support Jindal, always have, and voted for him when he ran against probably the worst Governor EVER in the history of Louisiana - Kathleen Blanco! What Jindal is going to do is carefully look at what strings the Oh'Bamanians will be attaching to specific parts of the stimulus package, and Jindal is going to decide what he prayerfully think is good for Louisiana. He is not going to be wearing any blinders, as the democrats have so appropriately done, and blindly accept EVERYTHING because #1 Oh'Bama says its all good #2 We will do anything we can to piss off Republicans #3 We finally played the race card and got a minority in the Presidential office and #3 its good fodder for the media/bloggers . . . oops . . . I guess that means you! Until you live in this great state of Louisiana, and have a Governor who is honestly and earnestly looking out for the best interest of the residents of the state he represents, and does so by closely and intently looking at what the Federal government will try to hold over the state's head with a carrot of "we gave you money, now do as we say" (soaked in Teddy's 20 year old Scotch), your biased opinions, based in a dung heap of lies espoused by the Oh'Bama Machine, have no bearing. Move from Los Angeles to Sportsman's Paradise and come taste of the finest cuisine in the world, and experience the most unique culture within the United States. We are a proud people who are resilient, with rich heritage all our own. Bobby Jindal is one of us, working for us and with us for what is right for this state. He is not working for Los Angeles. You have Arnold for that. You deal with your own problems . . . we'll handle our own just fine!

The blog post was about politicians who rail against government spending ("fiscal conservatives"), but then are the first in line when it comes to getting financial aid. I guess this could apply to the citizens, like you, as well. For instance, Louisiana gets $1.85 in federal dollars for every dollar you pay in taxes. In California, we only get .80 cents. In fact, it's the "blue states" tend to be the ones paying for the "red states". Yet, who are the ones complaining about government spending? http://www.nemw.org/taxburd.htm P.S. - I will be visiting New Orleans next month and look forward to enjoying the cuisine.
