On June 3, 2009, Congressional Democrats hosted the 2009 Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Summit. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, Chairwoman of the Senate Democratic Steering and Outreach Committee Debbie Stabenow, Chairman of the Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus (CAPAC) Michael Honda, and Chairman of the House Democratic Caucus John Larson were joined by their colleagues in both chambers to meet with members of the Asian American and Pacific Islander community. The theme of the summit was “Restoring Our Economy: Recovery and Reinvestment in the Asian American and Pacific Islander Community.”
