Donate to Rep. Joe "You Lie" Wilson's Opponent Rob Miller!

By now, we all probably know that some a-hole shouted out "You lie" during President Obama's speech when the President was disputing the charge that health care reform will cover illegal aliens. Far from being a random heckler, it was a sitting member of Congress, U.S. Representative Joe Wilson (SC-02).  (What is in the water in SC these days, anyway?)

Rob Miller, an Iraq War veteran, is running against Wilson for South Carolina's Second Congressional District. If you think Wilson is an embarrassment to both this country and to his office, donate to Rob Miller and help him defeat Wilson. Some background info on Miller via Daily Kos:

Rob is an Iraq War vet -- a Marine who came back to South Carolina to try and restore dignity to South Carolina's Second CD, where Joe Wilson was selling out the district by voting for unfair trade deals and corporate giveaways. Despite being a relative unknown, being outspent by a substantial margin, and a general Republican lean to the district, Rob came within just 8 points of knocking Wilson off in 2008. And we're lucky to have him running again.

Rob's a fair trade Democrat who supports the Employee Free Choice Act. He's a breath of fresh air for a state that desperately needs new leadership. And we can help him tonight, as the nation sees what an immature loser his opponent is. Let's chip in to help Rob -- with early financial support, and with the notoriety Wilson has brought on himself, we've got a chance to help send Joe Wilson packing -- and to bring maturity and decency to South Carolina politics.

Donate at APAP's ActBlue page for Miller or via Miller's web site. Let's help the people of SC-02 get a representative they can be proud of!

Update: Miller's statement regarding Wilson's outburst:

"Representative Wilson's behavior tonight exemplifies everything that is wrong in Washington," Democrat Rob Miller said in a statement provided to CNN. "Instead of engaging in childish name-calling and disrespecting our Commander-in-Chief, Joe Wilson should be working towards a bipartisan solution that makes quality, affordable health care available to each and every South Carolinian.

Miller added: "He owes both the President and the people of this district an apology for his embarrassing behavior during tonight's speech."

Update 2: Miller raises over $100,000 off of "You lie."

Update 3: Make that almost $200,000 and still rising.

Update 4: Since someone asked, feel free to donate to Joe Wilson here. :)

How embarassing can it possibly get to be a South Carolinian?

While Joe Wilson's comment seems to lack genteelism (who cares?) Obama's tone and style of speech invited the reactions it got.  While "factcheck.org" may support Obama's claim on it's face, only ONE version of the bill states that no federal money would go to undocumented individuals and there is no enforcement or verification mechanism in the bill like so many other federal programs; hence a bill or requirement with no teeth. Joe Wilson called it like it is. Props.  I'll make sure he gets donations his way.

Obama is a liar (not verified) on Thu, 09/10/2009 - 08:35

Joe Wilson raises $500,000 from Americans that agree with him.  Obama lies.  Joe Wilson stod up for the distrust of Obama's administration that has been shown at the town halls this summer.

Where can I go to donate to Joe Wilson?

Wrong time, wrong place but the truth none the same!

You can donate to Joe Wilson here. :)

AnonymousPatriot (not verified) on Thu, 09/10/2009 - 10:24

Actually, I'm going to send money to the ahole who called the liar in chief what he is. I'd have yelled "FUCKING LIAR" if I was there.

You are a liar too! (not verified) on Thu, 09/10/2009 - 14:54

This link is not the right one for those who want to donate to Joe Wilson, the South Carolina representative.  To set the record straight, here is the official website for Joe  http://www.joewilson.house.gov/.

I'm going to donate to Joe Miller right now. I'd never heard about him before. But he calls a liar a liar. He should have called him a "marxist liar".

By the way don't use that link given above. Just like the liar in chief oblamer, that poster was also a LIAR. These sheep all follow their clone leaders. Obamessiah.

Joe Wilson's website is down for now, but tomorrow you can donate to him. I will.

reserves?? (not verified) on Thu, 09/10/2009 - 18:08

I read that Joe Wilson joined the RESERVES in 1972???  WTF?  did he avoid having to go to Vietnam?  just like George W?

ebeh on Thu, 09/10/2009 - 20:23

Joe Miller? Is this a new candidate? By all means, feel free to donate to Joe Miller too. :)

ebeh on Thu, 09/10/2009 - 20:36

Oh, and incidentally:

As it turns out, the man who called Obama the liar may actually be off base. According to Politifact.com, a nonpartisan site dedicated to fact-checking the claims of  "candidates, elected officials, political parties, interest groups, pundits, talk show hosts," Obama wasn't lying when he said the health-care reforms he's proposing would not apply to illegal immigrants.

"Obama can make a pretty thorough case that reform doesn't apply to those here illegally. We don't find the public option argument enough to make the case that Obama 'lied.' We rate Wilson's statement False."

Rob Miller for Congress https://secure.actblue.com/contribute/page/robmiller?refcode=rmsite I live in Rhode Island so I cannot vote in this election or my choice would be obvious. I was a Republican until last night. I am changing my affiliation to Independent. This fear mongering and childish behavior has made me feel dirty to be a Republican. It seems the party will stop at nothing to win elections... like calling the president a liar, raising the terror alert, etc...etc! Donate to Rob Miller and send a clear message that our elected officials are to be truthful, professional, and not fear monger and behave like children. I have voted with $1,000.00 donation. Your turn... give anything you can!

Enough!  Wilson needs to step down now.  He can not be effective once he disgraced himself and us in front of the world.  I'd like to suggest a commercial for Mr. Miller... just take a camera to every high school, middle school and grade school and ask kids is it nice to call our President a lier on national TV?  Or, is it rude to call him a lier?   run a crawler with their name and grade: Bobbie 5th Grade, Joe 12th Grade You would have a winner of commercial & tag line would say... out of the mouths of babes... or who is leading whom?

I have had enough of this disrepect.  I'm a moderate, but I grew up when you respected your President - vote for him or against.  This has gone too far, and needs to stop now.  It seems when the republicans are not being rude, they are cheating on their wives... so it seems they are done either way. But this non-sence disgraces us all, and our country.

Moderators, what is up with the Joe Wilson trolls?

Looks like one guy reposting anonymous support for Joe Wilson.

Joe Wilson is a disgrace to Congress, to his party, and to our political process.

I'm going to donate $10 to Miller's campaign for every pro-Wilson comment on this thread.

Mr. Miller, what I find immensely embarrassing as a South Carolinia gentleman is someone’s disingenuousness in allowing a link on this page offering to contribute to Joe Wilson.  The fact is, that link is to donate to a political hack whose false statements resulted in an innocent man being imprisoned.  Too bad the rogue has a name similar to the Congressman from the SC-2 District.  I urge you to be an honorable gentleman, and demand that APAP remove the misleading link from this webpage.  A comment on this blog would be an appropriate way to let us all see that you have done the right thing.

Joe Wilson is a hero. He was correct in what he said and the facts have proven him correct. He is going to out warches Rob. While I thank Rob for his service I am sending money to Joe.

The Forum was teh wrong palce to do it but it was the hsot heard round the world and people agree with him.

If you cahstise him you need to go back and chastise all those who booed Bush and called him a liar. I dont see the hypocrites doing that.

GO JOE!

I don't believe anyone ever screamed "liar" at President Bush during an address to congress. And I think this subtle issue of context escapes some people.

The fact that it escapes people doesn't make them stupid.  They are just less educated and less experienced. They are still Americans and we should treat them the same way we treat an innocent child and encourage them to look deeper.

And some may even be challenged (I prefer the term special). So its not their fault (God that sound liberal). Still, we should have realize peoples limitations.
