This has been a historic week for us homos.

First, in Iowa Friday. The State Supreme Court ruled unanimously that a ban on gay marriage is unconstitutional thus opening up the doors to same sex marriage in the state. Couples can begin getting their gay marriage on at the end of the month, April 24th. California had a part in this decision as the court frequently cited California's ruling in favor of homo marriage in 2008.
Next, Vermont today. After Bill S. 115 passed through the Vermont State Senate and House, Governor Jim Douglas pulled a dick move and vetoed it. The Senate and House both increased their support for the bill in order to override the veto, 100-49 in the House, and 23-5 in the senate. Take that Douglas!
And then today as well, Washington D.C. The D.C. council voted in favor of recognizing gay marriages, civil unions, and domestic partnerships. One less place we have to worry about being stoned.
What's next? Maine and New Hampshire both have bills being considered in legislature to allow same-sex marriage. Meanwhile, those of us in California wait for the State Supreme Court’s decision to determine if California is as fair and inclusive as Connecticut, Vermont, Iowa, and Massachusetts.
