Congresswoman Judy Chu (D-CA), Chair of the Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus (CAPAC), announced the incoming staff of the caucus:  Executive Director Gene F. Kim and Assistant Coordinator Andy Wong.

"I am truly delighted to welcome Gene Kim and Andy Wong as the new staff for CAPAC," said Chairwoman Judy Chu. "With their diverse experiences and abilities, as well as their deep commitment to addressing the needs and concerns of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders, I know they will serve the community and caucus extraordinarily well."

Originally from southern California, Kim spent the past two years working with a national network of AAPI elected officials as the Director of Communications and Program Development for the Asian Pacific American Institute for Congressional Studies (APAICS). He previously served as the Chair of the Board of Directors for the Conference on Asian Pacific American Leadership (CAPAL), as the Research and Policy Director of an Illinois Congressional campaign, and as a legislative staffer for Congressman Al Green (TX-09). Kim graduated with high honors from the University of California, Berkeley.

Wong joined Congresswoman Chu's Washington, D.C. office as a staff assistant last year. Previously, he worked for over five years as an organizer, fundraiser, and advocate for social justice issues in the San Francisco Bay Area. Wong was formerly the Founder and Director of API Equality, an initiative at Chinese for Affirmative Action to promote support for LGBT acceptance and equal rights in the APA community. A native of California, Wong received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Swarthmore College and a Master in Public Affairs degree from Princeton University.

CAPAC is comprised of Members of Congress of Asian and Pacific Islander descent and members who have a strong dedication to promoting the well-being of the Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) community. Since 1994, CAPAC has been addressing the needs and concerns of the AAPI community in all areas of American life.
