Harold Koh confirmed by Senate

Congratulations to the new top legal advisor to the State Department.  Yale Law School Dean Harold Koh has just been confirmed by the Senate to the post, overcoming months of stalling by the GOP, including an anonymous hold.  Koh passed by a vote of 62-35, with five Republicans voting to confirm — Sens. Olympia Snowe (ME), Susan Collins (ME), Richard Lugar (IN), Mel Martinez (FL), and George Voinovich (OH). As we've stated before, Koh is often cited as a potential nominee to the U.S. Supreme Court. If that happens, he, of course, would be the first Asian American on the Supreme Court.
