Korean: 15% FTE (5.6 hours per week)

Khmer: 25% FTE (9.4 hours per week)

Vietnamese: 24% FTE (9.4 hours per week)

Chinese: 35% FTE (13.1 hours per week)

 

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Works jointly with Employment Services Coordinator to provide recovery-oriented, “jobs first” evidence based approach in employment intake, employment preparation, job development, job placement and follow along services for DOR-COOP consumers who are monolingual Chinese, Vietnamese, Khmer, and/or Korean speaking.

• Participates in the training of the evidence based approach - Individual Placement Support (IPS) Model and implements the service model.

• Completes monthly written progress reports for all DOR-COOP consumers participating in services, and placement reports for consumers that have been hired.

• Maintains ongoing communication with clinical case managers, ACVP and DOR staff regarding progress of DOR-COOP consumers receiving employment services.

• Advises DOR-COOP consumers individually and/or in groups on methods of obtaining and retaining employment.

• Elicits information from Employment Services Coordinator and consumers regarding individual job preferences, salary expectations, and hours preferred in preparation to develop individually tailored jobs.

• Manages a job club, providing a structured environment for DOR-COOP consumers who are motivated to work, assisting them in resume development, completing employment applications, learning interviewing techniques, job seeking techniques, and transportation and logistics coordination.

• Advises DOR-COOP consumers of occupational trends in selected jobs/job families.

• Conducts labor market surveys to determine availability, requirements and salaries for positions that consumers expressed interest in.

• Contacts employers to develop relationships which may result in job placement for DOR-COOP consumers.

• Provides on site job analysis, consultation, and recommendations for worksite and job modification, and assists employers in identifying on-the-job training needs of individual DOR-COOP consumers.

• Provides SSI advocacy with benefit issues on behalf of DOR-COOP consumers, which could include vocational case coordination on behalf of consumer with Mental Health Advocates, intervention of benefit losses as it relates to employment earnings and implementation of SSI work incentives.

• Performs follow-along services (coaching), follow-up and employment retention services.

• Participates in Employment Program meeting, supervision sessions, training, and related QA meetings.

• Other clinical, administrative, and operational duties as assigned by the Employment Services Program Director.

Additional Qualifications:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Sociology, Social Psychology, Rehabilitation/Vocational Counseling, or a closely-related social science field from an accredited college or university; or the equivalent of at least one year full-time experience in vocational counseling, employment program development and rehabilitation, job solicitation and placement with mentally or psychiatric challenged consumers.

2. Embrace welcoming and recovery principles of working with the mentally ill and clients with alcohol and other drug disorders;

3. Knowledge of principles, practices and techniques of vocational and employment counseling, training, marketing and job development and client placement;

4. Knowledge and/or experience with variety of jobs and employment opportunities in the San Francisco Bay Area;

5. Willingness to perform some activities in the field, and at irregular hours;

6. Ability to work with a culturally diverse staff, clients, family members, employers and community providers;

7. Bilingual/bicultural in Chinese, Vietnamese, Khmer or Korean a plus;

8. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing;

9. Ability to work independently, exercise professional judgment, and adhere to the legal and ethical standards of the social work field;

10. Valid California Driver’s license, auto insurance with bodily injury liability limit of at least $100,000/300,000 and access to use of an automobile;

11. Support and implement the mission, vision and values of Asian Community Mental Health Services.
