Children’s Law Center provides free, comprehensive legal services to thousands of low-income and at-risk children in Washington, DC to ensure they have safe homes, meaningful educations and healthy lives. Applying the knowledge gained from representing children and families, we advocate for changes in the city’s laws, policies and programs. Job Description
The investigator will work with lawyers who represent at-risk children. The position involves assisting lawyers with all aspects of their representation, including locating and gathering records, serving subpoenas, interviewing witnesses, visiting schools and locating appropriate social services for children. The investigator will also prepare written reports and testify in court. The position is appropriate for someone considering a legal, counseling or social work career.

Requirements and Qualifications
The position requires considerable resourcefulness, creativity, initiative and tenacity, as well as tact and discretion. Car, driver’s license and auto insurance required. Two-year commitment required. Previous experience working with low-income persons and government agencies a plus. College degree preferred, but not required.
