John Liu on the Asian American vote

Here's a link to an awesome audioclip of Comptroller-elect John Liu discussing his own race, as well as the Asian American community in general. In the eight-minute clip, Liu discusses everything from the historic number of Asian American candidates to the dynamics of the AAPI community, calling it a friendly "sibling rivalry." Liu also discusses how the different communities were ultimately able to cross ethnic lines and support different AAPI candidates. It's a great interview and definitely worth a listen. It's obvious that Liu has a great knowledge of the AAPI community.

How about write something more about Filippino American Ron Villanueva (R) who was just elected to the Virginia House of Delegate? He is the First Asian along with mark kim who cracked the glass ceiling on Nov 3.  He too had huge support from Asian American voters who made the victory possible.  It was a close race but he won nevertheless.

Okay - here goes.  Ron Villanueva, Republican, won his election to the Virginia House of Delegates, making him one of the first Asian Americans elected to the VA state leg along with Mark Keam.

Now back to our regularly scheduled progressive programming.  Maybe we'll revisit Ron after he demonstrates that he is not a part of the extremist rump that has hijacked the Republican Party and radicalized political discourse in this country.
