John Liu leads in NYC comptroller's race

Just got an email from New York City Councilmember John Liu's office. With just four days to go until the citywide primaries on Sept. 15th, John has started to emerge as the leader in the race for Comptroller

In a Democratic Primary Election for New York City Comptroller held today, 09/11/09, John Liu finishes first with 34% of the vote, according to this latest exclusive WABC-TV poll conducted by SurveyUSA -- near, but not at, the 40% trigger that would avoid a September 30 runoff for the top two finishers.

Melinda Katz and David Yassky are bunched together behind Liu: Katz gets 23% today, Yassky 19% -- a slim margin in the battle for the second position on the runoff ballot. David Weprin finishes fourth with 7% of the vote. All four candidates are currently city council members.

Liu today leads by 17 points among men, but is effectively tied with Katz among women.
Liu leads among voters age 18 to 64; Katz and Liu tie among voters 65+.
Among white voters, Yassky, Katz, and Liu run neck-and-neck-and-neck; Liu leads by double digits among black, Hispanic, and Asian voters.
In the Bronx, Katz and Liu tie; in Queens, Liu leads by 6; in Manhattan and Queens, Liu leads by double digits.

And here is a link to his latest video: http://www.liunewyork.com/blog/2009/09/12/one-all

Again, we encourage all of our readers to get out there and support your candidate!

Sadly, I bet his numbers would be even higher if it wasn't for the Daily News smear job
