LGBT/Pride Week

June is LGBT pride month. We have a variety of queer AAPI's, friends, families and allies posting about their experiences. Thanks to Be DeGuzman, one of APAP's 2009 Unsung Heroes, for coordinating this special week of posts.

To help with our upcoming hate crimes/Vincent Chin week (June 21) or Pacific Islander week (Aug), please let us know. If you have a topic you or your agency would like to coordinate, email us.

Lunar New Year for All

February 21 will see the the first ever LGBT contingent in the Lunar New Year parade in New York’s Chinatown.

The New York Association for Gender Rights Advocacy (NYAGRA), Q-Wave, the Gay Asian & Pacific Islander Men of New York (GAPIMNY), Barangay, and other organizations will co-sponsor the LGBT contingent in the parade in order to challenge homophobia and honor the diversity of all families within the community.

For more information, read this eloquent statement that gender rights advocate Pauline Park recently read on behalf of NYAGRA. http://www.paulinepark.com/index.php/2010/01/nyagra-on-lgbt-inclusive-2010-chinese-lunar-new-year-parade/
