NAAAP-Verizon Scholarships for college students DEADLINE 12/10

November 12, 2010 (Philadelphia) – Today, the National Association of Asian American Professionals opens a short window to invite applicants from the United States including Puerto Rico for its yearly NAAAP/Verizon Scholarships. Applications must be received online by December 10, 2010 by 5:00 PM E.S.T.

Four individuals will receive $3000 in scholarship money for a total of $12,000 donated by the Verizon Foundation. $51,000 was awarded by NAAAP and Verizon over the past three years to outstanding young leaders. 2010 is the fourth year in which NAAAP has conducted the Verizon Scholars program.

The minimum eligibility criteria for the NAAAP Scholarship fund reflect both NAAAP’s focus on personal, professional, and community leadership, and Verizon’s desire to promote higher education in the communities it serves. We seek scholarship applicants who are at least one quarter Asian by heritage, maintain an unweighted 3.0 GPA, and demonstrate leadership in the broad definition of the word. Preference will be given to students in particular majors and students with disabilities.

For details and the scholarship application, please see: www.naaap.org/scholarship. For more info, contact Yiuman So, Director of the NAAAP Verizon Scholars program, at Scholarship@naaap.org
