But Kakela becomes increasingly annoyed with Tre when he begins a revenge-fueled sexual affair with her best friend, Nina. As Kakela watches Nina's marriage unravel, she begins to question her devotion to Gabe. Unsure of her motives, she accepts a dare devised by Tre -- a simple 10-second experiment that changes her life forever. Sexual competition and moral ambiguity are the only constants in Byler's searing sequel to his critically acclaimed 2003 Independent Spirit Award nominee, "Charlotte Sometimes." TRE THEATRICAL TRAILER http://apap.c.topica.com/maajyHiabEf3EaaaaaabaeQyyu/ "The all-Asian cast I chose for CHARLOTTE SOMETIMES confused some viewers because they had come to expect an overt political commentary when confronted with ethnic faces in American films. My follow-up TRE features mixed Asian ('hapa') romantic leads and also ignores ethnicity, favoring humanity as its focus and theme. In a sense, TRE reasserts the right of ethnic artists to tell stories about our communities without focusing on the issue of race ... without political agenda." -- Eric Byler SCREENING AND Q&A Saturday, February 2, 2008 5:10 p.m. Screening Q&A to Follow Laemmle's Sunset 5 8000 Sunset Blvd. West Hollywood, CA 90046 PRIVATE NETWORKING EVENT w/ APA writers, directors and actors 7:30 PM - Sushi Dan (in the same complex) Free PLEASE RSVP ON EVITE http://apap.c.topica.com/maajyHiabEf3UaaaaaabaeQyyu/ myspace.com/tremovie: http://apap.c.topica.com/maajyHiabEf3FaaaaaabaeQyyu/ ========================== UPCOMING DEM SUMS/MEETINGS ========================== Pipeline Conference Call For those interested in getting involved in the program. Our program is focused on providing an unparalleled professional development opportunity for recent Asian American college graduates, providing them with training to work on a campaign, a three-month stipend to work for a progressive candidate they support, and resume-building and career development session upon completion of the program in November '08. We are actively seeking APAP chapters/supporters in cities and towns across the country to be a host of a program participant. The main role of the APAP chapter will be to help select the program participant in your city, provide financial support and resources, mentorship, and in some cases, to be the home away from home for these young individuals. clarence (dot) tong (at) gmail.com ======================= JOIN OUR FACEBOOK GROUP ======================= APAP has launched a Facebook group.
