Raja is running for Comptroller in Illinois! If he wins in 2010, he'll become the first Asian American elected to a statewide office in Illinois!
When I first saw the Indian American Leadership Institute's tweet that said, "Krishnamoorthi Running for State Comptroller," I thought... "Oh wow! Another Asian American running against California State Controller, John Chiang?" But then I realized that Raja's in Illinois. Don't get me wrong... several Asian Americans running for the same seat is very exciting, but having more offices represented by Asian Americans is even more exciting. I also realized how Cali-centric I've become... thinking that all Asian American politicians must be in CA... shame on me!
I don't know much about Raja, but it does seem he's a very smart guy and very handsome(!), who is very qualified for the position... much like Controller Chiang.
All you AAPI Illinois folks... anyone know much about Raja? Tell us more!
