Found this article on my Monday morning: Even After Law Aimed At Banning It, RNC Still Sending Misleading 'Census' Mailer.
The Republican National Committee is continuing to send out a misleading fundraising mailer labeled "Census Document," just weeks after Congress passed a law aimed at banning such mailers.
See the memo that they're mailing out here. Included in the mailer is a huge capitalized note: "DO NOT DESTROY/OFFICIAL DOCUMENT" even though
Congress quickly passed a law -- the House vote was 416-0 -- requiring that mailers marked "census" state the name and address of the sender on the outside of the envelope, and contain an unambiguous disclaimer making clear that the mailer is not affiliated with the government.
Whether it be the DNC or the RNC (though the fact that it is the RNC makes it that much more sketchy), I would still be offended that they're using the people's unawareness of the census to solicit money for their political party. By now we all know how essential the 2010 census is to our community and to our nation to properly reflect the population and distribute the resources to help our economy thrive. The only way that we can get a proper count is if everyone fills out and mails in their census forms. Don't muck up one of the most important reports for our country and adding to hysteria and ignorance about the census by playing dirty politics!
