'Silo-ing' of different issues prevents acknowledgement of the underlying broad, systemic challenges (eg, multicultural perspective on education can benefit everyone)

1.  Immigration:

On the state level the Deportation Bill is being supported by the governor in Wa state and is an example of why we need leadership on the Federal level.

1. What is your general assessment of the status of AAPI's in this country? Are you optimistic or pessimistic?

Slow change. Longer then we expect. Not hearing that much stuff about Asian equality now. Will take awhile. Changes doesn't happen over night. Sometimes people are really passive about it. People wait for others to do things. Take initiative. Stand out! Some people don't want to stand out.

It is our pleasure to participate the national AAPI teleconference. In Spokane, eight persons attended the conference. Although it was a small one, everyone was in high spirit. After the national call, we spent two hours to discuss various issues. We all felt that the discussion empowered us some way.
