Alex Wan campaigns for Atlanta City Council

Earlier this month, non-profit executive Alex Wan took a huge step towards becoming Atlanta's first Asian American on the city council by coming in first in his primary. Wan captured 32% of the vote and moved into a run-off against second-place finisher, Martha Coyle, who received 23%.


Asian American candidates vote results

There were quite a few Asian Americans on the ballot yesterday. Here are the raw numbers for some of the races that APAP was covering this past election cycle. Special congratulations to all the winners, including historic victors Mark Keam in Virginia and John Liu in New York City.

Gay Asian American candidates run for local offices

This fall, on opposite coasts, two gay Asian Americans are running for local office. In the suburbs of Atlanta, we have Alex Wan who is running for City Council, District Six. Alex is the Director of Development for Jerusalem House, Atlanta's oldest and largest provider of permanent, supportive housing for homeless or low-income individuals and families living with HIV/AIDS.
