Asian American election results

It was a busy night last night. Unfortunately, even though we had an historic class of top-notch progressive Asian Americans running for Congress, we only managed to get two of them across the finish line: Hansen Clarke in MI-13 and Colleen Hanabusa in HI-01. Coming up short were such great candidates as Ami Bera, Manan Trivedi, Raj Goyle, Ravi Sangisetty and Surya Yalamanchili.

The endorsements give Hanabusa campaign a political edge in the special election to replace U.S. Representative Neil Abercrombie who is stepping down to run for Governor.

Hawaiian state legislature cancels annual party

Here's a little piece that just appeared in the Honolulu Star Bulletin entitled, "No Party for You." It seems the Hawaiian state legislature has decided to send a message, and save a little tax-payer money, by canceling the annual kick-off party to start the legislative session.

No More Capitol Parties.

Asian American candidates fundraising numbers

In the 2010 election cycle so far, six Asian Americans have officially announced their candidacies for Congress, not including the seven incumbents. We've reported on a few of the fundraising numbers already, but here's a handy chart that includes all their numbers for these challengers (and their key opponents) as of 9/30/2009.
