The Washington State legislature begins debate on a marriage equality bill tomorrow. It's a bill that, if passed, would make Washington the seventh state to offer equal marriage rights to its gay and lesbian citizens on a state level. (Full equal rights will require the removal of the federal-level Defense of Marriage Act.)

Jun Choi runs for Congress

Here's some interesting news out of New Jersey. Former mayor of Edison, Jun Choi, has announced that he is running for Congress in the state's 7th district, a district that Obama actually carried.

"I'm running for Congress because we need to revitalize New Jersey and America's middle class," Choi said in a statement released today.

Ted Lieu runs for CA State Senate

Former California State Assemblymember Ted Lieu recently announced his candidacy for the CA Senate seat left open by the passing of Senator Jenny Oropeza. The date for the special election has now been announced. It's February 15th, 2011. While that doesn't give him much time, Lieu is in a strong position to win this seat.

Raja Krishnamoorthi for lieutenant governor?


After suffering a narrow loss for Illinois state comptroller, Democrat Raja Krishnamoorthi now has his sights set on a bigger prize: the state's Lieutenant Governor. According to the Peoria Journal, Krishnamoorthi is letting it be known that he wants to be considered for this office on the Democratic ticket.
