Share Your Health Care Story! How Has Health Reform Benefited You or Your Family?

We would like to highlight the experiences of Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders across the country who have benefited from the Affordable Care Act through stories and photos. How has this law helped you or your family?

Examples can include:

TAKE ACTION TODAY: Health Care for Asian American Pacific Islanders (AAPIs) is at Risk

We have an urgent request. Health care reform for AAPIs is at risk. We can't let the new leadership in Congress return us to the days when insurance companies were free to do whatever they want with no accountability, such as denying coverage to children with asthma and other pre-existing conditions, or doubling premiums, and imposing higher costs on families and small businesses.
A House vote to repeal health care reform is scheduled for TODAY, Wednesday, January 19th.

That's him with USSA Communications Director, Jake Stillwell (pictured above, left) and Congressman George Miller (pictured above, right).

House passes historic health bill

On March 21, 2010, the House made a historic event with the passage of H.R. 4872, Health Care and Education Affordability Reconciliation Act of 2010.  After more than a year of fierce debate, President Obama has won a major legislative victory.

The Senate healthcare bill passed the House in 219-212 vote. An overwhelming majority of Democratic House members voted in support of the bill. However, thirty-four Democrats voted nay, and, as expected, all Republicans voted against the bill.

Howard Dean speaks out against Senate healthcare bill

See video

Governor Howard Dean came out against the Senate healthcare bill yesterday, calling it an insurance giveaway. He seems to be the only person willing to stand up to Joe Lieberman. In short, Dean says, when asked if Democrats should support this bill: "No, absolutely not. You can't vote for a bill like this in good conscience. It costs too much money. It isn't health care reform. It's not even insurance reform." Check out the complete video as he talks about reconciliation and how the Democrats can move forward.
