Tsunami relief shifts to Rebuilding Effort

The earthquake of September 29, 2009 in the Samoan region that created a tsunami of devastating proportions to the Samoan islands have not gone in vain.  At least not for a community in the South Bay Carson area which mobilized hours after the tsunami hit the islands.

As many of us know, the Philippines and Vietnam were recently struck by Typhoon Ketsana/Ondoy, bringing over a month's worth of rainfall in just a few hours, surpassing even the rainfall for Hurricand Katrina. According to Senator Akaka (D-HI), at least 284 Filipinos have died, and nearly half a million have lost their homes.
