Fernande R.V. Duffly nominated to Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court

Back in December, Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick (and APAP-PAC endorsed candidate) announced his nomination of Associate Justice Fernande R.V. Duffly to the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court. If confirmed Judge Duffy would be the first Asian American on the state's Supreme Court.

Judge Denny Chin Nominated to 2nd Circuit; Would Be Only APA Fed. Appellate Judge

After several weeks of rumors, President Obama officially nominated federal district Judge Denny Chin of the Southern District of New York to the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. If confirmed, Judge Chin will be the ONLY federal appellate judge of APA descent; Judge Wallace Tashima of the Ninth Circuit has taken senior status and is thus no longer considered an active judge.


Judge Robert M. Takasugi passes away

Here's a press release we just received about the passing of another Asian American pioneer, Judge Robert M. Takasugi. Judge Takasugi was the first Japanese American appointed to the federal bench.


Judge Sandra Otaka passes away

Sad news out of Chicago.  Judge Sandra Otaka, a true pioneer and clarion voice in the community, passed away this past weekend.  She was 57.
