According to the White House Blog, last week the Office of Public Engagement (OPE) "brought over eighty interns to the White House for a briefing on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders in public service.

In what could be Kal Penn's first White House email since joining the Obama Administration, he invites AAPI leader to join the White House and the Corporation for National and Community Service to "to get an update and find out how we can further engage your organization and by extension the greater AAPI community."


Kal Penn in the House... the White House

I guess it took actor Kal Penn a little longer than expected to get his house in order.  He's now officially started his job as the Associate Director in the White House's Office of Public Engagement.  Specifically, Kal, or Kalpen Modi (his legal name and the name he will be going by in the White House), will be working on Asian American and Pacific Islander outreach, as well as outreach to the arts community.
