There were quite a few South Asians who ran for office on Tuesday. While there were a lot of disappointing results (Raj Goyle, Manan Trivedi, Ami Bera), there were some other victories around the country. Here is a great update that we got from the Indian American Leadership Institute on the candidates that they were following this past election cycle. Congratulations to the winners and hopefully some of the non-winners will decide to run again in a more favorable environment. 

As our readers know, it's a going to be a tough race for the California Attorney General's office in 2010. As opposed to the Governor's race where there's only one Democrat running, current California Attorney General Jerry Brown, the race to replace him in his current office is filled with a host of viable candidates.

San Francisco Attorney General Kamala Harris, who is running to the state's top attorney has just penned a post on Huffington Post, entitled, "Saving Public Resources and Protecting Our Most Important Resource: Children." Check it out.

Some people have called Kamala Harris the "female Barack Obama." Now the San Francisco District Attorney and candidate for CA State Attorney General will have another chance to meet her male counterpart today. Kamala has been invited to the White House to discuss the success of her youth and gang violence prevention programs.
