Hansen Clarke wins MI primary

Great news out of Detroit. State Senator Hansen Clarke has won an upset victory in his overwhelmingly Democratic district. He is poised to become the next Asian American in Congress. Clarke attended the first APAP Detroit meeting last year. We;ll definitely think of ways we can help out his campaign.

Hoon-Yung Hopgood announces bid for MI Senate

Just got this email from former member of the Michigan State House of Representatives, Hoon-Yung Hopgood. Hopgood, the state's first Korean American elected to the House, is throwing his hat in the ring for the state's Senate. According to Wikipedia:


One Year After Prop 8: Why Asian Americans Should Support Marriage Equality

On November 4th, 2008, Proposition 8 passed in California, eliminating the right to marry for same-sex couples.  One year later, the rights of the LGBT community are again up for a popular vote, in Maine, Washington and Michigan.
