onight, Arizona’s future hangs in the balance as Arizona Governor Jan Brewer decides whether to sign SB 1070, one of the harshest anti-immigrant bill in recent memory, into law. The bill will be forwarded to the Governor’s desk this evening and could ostensibly be signed into law by midnight tonight.

State Representative Jay Goyal Meets With Concerned Citizens

Last week, sex offenders and their family and friends met with Honorable State Representative Jay Goyal at a restaurant. They came to voice their concerns about the current law towards sex offenders in Ohio. They discussed how the state public policy is affecting them. Concerned citizens believe the state registry system fails to distinguish fairly between severe sex crimes and lesser offenses. Rep.

As you'll recall, we recently reported that Ohio State Representative Jay Goyal was mentioned as a possible candidate for Lieutenant Governor.

Just got this email from the Indian American Leadership Initiative.  (For those of you unfamiliar with the organization, you should really check them out.) Anyway, their email speculates that Ohio Governor Ted Strickland (D) is considering State Rep. Jay Goyal to be the next Lt. Governor of the State. (The current Lt. Governor, Lee Fisher will be running for the U.S. Senate.)

Asian American Republicans Vote With GOP Wingnuts

steve-austriacao_img1 With the economic stimulus package receiving zero votes from any Republican members of Congress, that means the two Asian American freshmen Congressmen, Steve Austria (OH-07) and Joseph Cao (LA-02) sided with their party bosses and against their own constituencies. Austria had already proven himself to be a wingnut, parroting the recent revisionist Republican talking points about the Depression. But there was some hope for Cao. That was until it came time to vote.
