Howard Dean on the Senate healthcare proposal

As many of you know, Asian Pacific Americans for Progress came out of the Howard Dean campaign back in 2003. (We officially incorporated as a separate organization in 2005.) In many ways, he and the many organizations and websites that now form the core of the blogosphere and progressive left are our natural allies and kindred spirits. That's why what Governor Dean says matters. Here's a blog entry he just posted over on Daily Kos entitled, "We can have both."

Never mind the Obama/Pelosi Newspeak, the healthcare reform needs to die.

Last fall, I though I was voting for change.

I was in Harlem the election night, and it felt like there was some vindication.

But we cannot live on symbols alone.

It seems, however, that Obama administration has betrayed the progressives on most pertinent issues of the day.

White House Web Chat with Valerie Jarrett on Health Care Reform

Long Live Public Option

Public option is still alive and running.

Today Senate Majority Leader Senator Harry Reid (D-Nev.) has announced that the Health Care Bill will include a public option plan.

In order to galvanize support from various sides of the political spectrum, he has included a bill that allows individual states to 'Opt-Out' Public Option.

Doris Matsui comes out strong for public option

Here's some great news out of the California capital from the Sacramento Bee. At a civil townhall on Saturday, Matsui addressed 700 of her constituents.

After hosting a successful teletownhall two weeks ago, Congressmember Doris Matsui (CA-05) will be doing it again. Here are the details she just sent:

Health Reform Myth: Public Option Will Bankrupt Private Insurers

Will a public option destroy private insurance companies?  The answer is an unequivocal NO.  Although many in Congress (advocating for insurance companies rather than their constituents) have made this claim, its abundantly clear that not only can the government effectively administer to this sort of program, but several "public options" already exist.

Doris Matsui to host teletownhall on Sept. 3rd

Just got this email in our inbox. Congresswoman Doris Matsui (CA-05) is hosting one of those increasing popular teletownhall on Thursday, Sept. 3rd. Matsui still needs to be pushed on healthcare reform.
