Time to counter hate and intolerance

From Restore Fairness blog

Even as hate filled rhetoric continues to pump the airwaves, there are a number of initiatives calling to counter the intolerance.

How far will the GOP go for the Latino vote?

(From the Restore Fairness blog) In the 2008 Presidential Election, Republicans won only 31% of the Latino vote, down from 40% of Latino votes they had four years earlier when George Bush took office for the second time. And based on exit polls, it seems apparent that the Hispanic vote played a large part in President Obama’s Electoral College victory and win over John McCain.

Palin Family to do Apology Tour

An unidentified flying spokesperson for the Palin family has told the Socialist Papers for Democracy that the family will go on a world wide "Apology" Tour. The tour which will include stops ranging from Chicago to Russia will be a comedy tour starring Sarah, Todd, and Bristol Palin (the others will be in Alaska so not far away from Russia). They plan on setting the "record" straight on what conservatives and humor in general is all about.

Jindal's Response Not So Big, Not So Easy

bobby_jindal Well, it looks like the reviews are in for Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal's response to President Obama's address to the joint session of Congress last night. Let's just say, "the liberal media" strikes again! How else can you explain headlines like: Jindal's GOP Response Flops Jindal's response: Panned, seared And being compared to the character of Kenneth from 30 Rock. This was supposed to be Jindal's big national debut and it was a colossal flop. I guess Sarah Palin and Mike Huckabee can give a big sigh of relief. Then again others have bounced back from dismal national debuts. Think of Bill Clinton's debut at the Democratic National Convention a few years back. The bigger problem is for the Republican party and their small and uninspiring ideas.

For Life

I used to think that I was socially moderate—not liberal. Sometimes I even suspected that I had more of a tendency towards more conservative values.

Never Let the VP Become the Story

[Howdy folks. I haven't blogged here in quite some time, but with things heating up in the election I thought I'd add my voice to the chorus of punditry. So here goes...] Never let the running mate become the story. That's something that Obama understood and McCain didn't. So what does each vice-presidential choice tell us about the candidates? It speaks volumes about a single trait: confidence. Like a lot of people, I wasn't initially enthralled by the pick of Biden. It seemed too safe a choice; it didn't seem to enhance Obama's "change" brand; and it looked a little too much like ticket-balancing. This week, of course, the Biden choice looks pretty smart.
