Asian Americans more supportive of Obama's stimulus plan

Recently, New American Media released a poll that showed that the perceptions of the effectiveness of President Barack Obama’s $787 billion stimulus package differed dramatically between racial groups. While less than 40 percent of whites, Hispanics and Native Americans said the stimulus has made the economy better, 59 percent of African-Americans and 47 percent of Asian-Americans said that it had.

We start with this great profile on DC's other power siblings, the Koh Brothers.  After overcoming a Republican-delayed confirmation process, Harold Koh has joined the Administration as the legal advisor to the State Department.  His brother Howard had a much easier road to becoming Assistant Secretary for Health and Human Services.


Cao's Re-election Efforts Hinge on Distancing Himself from Republicans

When Republican Ahn "Joseph" Cao won the run-off election in LA-02 to replace Democratic incumbent, though ethically challenged, William "Dollar Bill" Jefferson, every political pundit pegged Cao as a one-termer.  After all, the district was heavily Democratic, voting for Barack Obama by nearly 3-1, and Jefferson only lost after a concerted effort by local Democrats to remove him from office.


Cao (LA-02) Faces Recall. That was quick.

cao_img1 Wow, everyone knew that Joseph Cao (LA-02) would have a tough time getting re-elected as a Republican in a district that is D+28. Well, Cao may not even get that far. After being for the stimulus, before he was against it, a group of local ministers have decided to launch a recall effort of the first Vietnamese American Congressman. People are pissed:
One elected official, State Representative Juan A. LaFonta, Democrat of District 96 told Bayoubuzz that he does not know about the existence of the petition but that he would sign it. … “People are starving and Cao needs to represent the people of the district”, LaFonta said.
