APAP Unsung Hero 2010 - Arshad Hasan

Nomination and blog post written by: Curtis Chin, APAP Board President

As an organization that came out of Howard Dean's 2004 presidential campaign, APAP usually agrees with the good Governor, including his Fifty-state strategy and vocal support of the public option. However, when controversy erupted in 2010 over the building of an Islamic community center in downtown Manhattan and Governor Dean suggested it might be better to move the center, we respectfully disagreed with him.

TAKE ACTION TODAY: Health Care for Asian American Pacific Islanders (AAPIs) is at Risk

We have an urgent request. Health care reform for AAPIs is at risk. We can't let the new leadership in Congress return us to the days when insurance companies were free to do whatever they want with no accountability, such as denying coverage to children with asthma and other pre-existing conditions, or doubling premiums, and imposing higher costs on families and small businesses.
A House vote to repeal health care reform is scheduled for TODAY, Wednesday, January 19th.

AAPI Call-in Day: Tell Congress to Support Health Care Reform on August 19!!!

Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians and Pacific Islanders (AAs and NHPIs) need quality affordable health care. One in six Asian Americans and one in four Native Hawaiians and Pacific Islanders are uninsured. Even with coverage, AAs and NHPIs experience disparities in health outcomes and quality of care.

Lifting API Women's Voices for Immigration Reform

Dear Advocates and Allies,

To capture the diverse narratives of the Asian and Pacific Islander (API) community through the perspective of API women and girls, NAPAWF has created an Immigration Community Survey. The stories of Asian immigrant women and their families are rarely, if ever, depicted in mainstream media. We hope this community survey will help elevate immigrant Asian women's issues and bring attention to the compelling stories that are too often not told.
