A Flurry of Gay Marriage: VT and IA Legalize It and DC Recognizes It

First, in Iowa Friday. The State Supreme Court ruled unanimously that a ban on gay marriage is unconstitutional thus opening up the doors to same sex marriage in the state. Couples can begin getting their gay marriage on at the end of the month, April 24th. California had a part in this decision as the court frequently cited California's ruling in favor of homo marriage in 2008.


Vermont State Senate Votes YES for Gay Marriage

I watched the Vermont State Senate discuss and then vote on bill S. 115 to grant same-sex civil marriage. The bill passed 26-4 and will now be sent to the house where it should pass. The bill will then move on to republican governor Jim Douglas who may very well veto it. If it is vetoed by the governor, it's back to the legislature where they'll fight it out for enough votes for a veto override. Below is the play-by-play if you so desire.
