Yuh-Line Niou represents Poverty Action at the state capitol, advocating on issues that impact people with lower incomes. Her deep commitment to working on anti-poverty issues comes from her immigrant background and her love for her community. Prior to joining the Poverty Action team, Yuh-Line worked several legislative sessions as legislative assistant to Rep. Eileen Cody where she learned how anyone can have an impact on legislation, including herself. Yuh-Line holds a B.A. in Social Policy from The Evergreen State College, so she knows where all the good food in Olympia is. In her free time, Yuh-Line reads comics, takes naps with her dog (Mr. Padua Ghimire Niou aka Mr. Puds), and watches "Bromance" on MTV.
It's true, Yuh-Line is totally awesome.
Yuh-line helped pass legislation protecting low income families from predatory lenders. This legislation was attempted many times, but Yuh-line helped pass it her first session lobbying - that's how amazing she is!
