Love you so much Fui - And, if you get to give a speech, you should start off with "And I'd like to thank the academy, and I'd like to thank my sister Hara and, ok, you get it.

I have had the privilege of working with Fui, and there is no word in any language that can encompass the essence of who and what Fui is for the Pacific Islander community, the LGBTQ community, the third-world community and any other community she endeavors to work for!

Her very presence brings out the AWESOMENESS in those who have had the pleasure of being around her!

Whatever the outcome, Fui will always be a hero!

And as for being unsung - I'll sing for her any day! LOL!

LOVE YOU FUI!

Fui is one amazing person, she is active, inspirational, artistic, caring, respectful, and knows when to have FUn.

I saw her as one of the great Pacific Islander organizers in my time through my own eyes.

Much Love to FUI!

Fui has an amazing, kind, and healing spirit... which are just a few qualities she uses to work for change in the community.  Whether it's through formal community events Fui has organized, or informal conversations you have at a backyard BBQ, you leave Fui's presence feeling encouraged, inspired, and motivated to join the work she does to make change in a creative, sustainable, and honest way.

Fui is a true model for the Polynesian community of a strong, intelligent, and insightful Pacific Islander woman who navigates her mulitple positionalities fluidly and effectively through her work. She is 100% committed and present for everything she is involved with-- with a rare humility and genuine devotion to our communities that truly makes her an unsung hero. It's definitely been such an honor to work with her!

As always, I am so proud of my beautiful and brilliant friend. She is one of the most sincerely warm and generous people I've met in Berkeley, and I am so grateful to be in the Comparative Ethnic Studies department with her. She deserves this recognition--and so much more.

YOU GO GRRRL!!

MUCH LOVE ALWAYS!!!!
