Just the messenger for a message from the Vietnamese American Community Service Center in DC.
With Christmas fast approaching, the Vietnamese American Community Service Center is in dire need for toys for the children they serve! The VACSC is a small, community based non-profit organization in Columbia Heights, D.C., serving the low-income and immigrant Vietnamese community. They provide essential programs and services, such as after-school services for children and family strengthening programs out of a basement of a building. Like many small, community based non-profits, VACSC is met with hard times. The economic downturn has dramatically affected the VACSC’s ability to find toys this year to give to the children at their annual Holiday Party on December 22nd, and even providing basic services. At this point, the VACSC has collected enough toys for only 10 out of the 55 children!
So, if you or people you know are interested in lending a hand, the VACSC is accepting all the help it can get with toy donations for children and/or monetary donations (check is acceptable) to support the organization before Dec 22nd.
It's getting down to the wire, so donate a toy or write a check for those in need this season if you can!

There should be more drives like this at least every 3-4 months or so and not just around Christmas time.
