There's been a lot of news on our community and elected officials this past week. Here's a roundup of some of the articles.
First up, an article on Harold Koh and his nomination to be chief legal advisor to the State Department. As mentioned before, Koh is often named as a candidate to become the first Asian American Supreme Court Justice. You can bet some of this stalling is posturing for any potential future fights. Senator Reid is finally sending signals he'll be moving forward on the nomination.
Next, we have an article on NYC Councilman John Liu who is running to be the City Controller. The polling shows him in second place, behind "Don't Know".
And from Hawaii, we have some polling out on both 84-year old Senator Dan Inouye who is up for re-election and 70-year old Congressman Neil Abercrombie's race to become Governor.
In population news, the U.S. Census just sent out a press release that mentions the continued growth of AAPI's in California and Prof. Antonio Villegas, Jr. releases a report on the buying power of Filipino Americans.
Speaking of California, State Assemblymember Paul Fong wants the federal government to apologize to the Chinese American community for such things as the Chinese Exclusion Act.
From Boston comes a report on a new proposal from Boston mayoral candidate Sam Yoon.
And finally, out of Louisiana, it seems Bobby Jindal has squelched the efforts to draft him for 2012.
