Just got an email from our friend, Roland Hwang in Detroit. The City of Ferndale, MI, is hosting an upcoming installation and dedication of the Vincent Chin Case Legal Milestone plaque on December 22, 2010 at Noon at the Post Bar. That's the location where the American Citizens for Justice first met to start organizing. Details below:
The City of Ferndale will host a ceremony on Wednesday December 22 honoring the installation and dedication of the Vincent Chin Michigan Milestone Plaque and Memorial beginning at noon.
The dedication ceremony is planned to begin inside at the former home of the Golden Star restaurant, now the Post Bar. This location is where the first meetings of the American Citizens for Justice were held after the verdicts came down relating to the Vincent Chin murder in the 1980's.
A number of speakers are expected from the Michigan State Bar, the American Chinese Society, American Citizens for Justice, and elected officials. The group will move outside for the unveiling of the Milestone and Memorial in the Woodward Median at Nine Mile Road and Woodward in downtown Ferndale.
If you're in the area, support this event!
