APA for Progress will have an exclusive web interview of Lieutenant Daniel Choi this Sunday evening at 7 PM EST (4 PM PST) via Ustream. Make sure you log on Sunday for an interview with an Asian American hero who is now fighting for his own career and rights after being denied his rights to fight for our country. APA for Progress will ask the openly gay discharged veteran his thoughts on the Obama presidency, Don't Ask Don't Tell and other anti-LGBT laws, and how he is faring after being dismissed.
Since coming out on national television on the Rachel Maddow show, Choi has become a fierce advocate for the repeal of Don't Ask Don't Tell with his group Knights Out and has joined the Courage Campaign in California in their fight for marriage equality and LGBT rights overall.
I totally agree Cahir -- I'm going to be lucky enough to meet him in person on Sunday as I'll be helping to do the streaming. He's been a wonderful advocate for gay rights and by extension Asian American rights too. There are all too many parallels between the exclusions of Asians and gays and Dan brings it all together for me. Kudos to him!
I like how the "Your name" bar comes up "anonymous coward"!!ha... THANK YOU to those working to put this site together and keep it updated. It is so vitally important that Choi receives the encouragement and proud recognition that he deserves. keep talking, keep moving forward. without action hope is inadequate. I’m honored to live in a time when there are people like all of you working so hard to fight injustice.
I think it's actually a "slashdot.org" reference. Am I right Allan? Am I right?
